A superb sounding orchestral instrument in superb condition. A violin shaped, swell backed instrument constructed of well figured maple and straight-grained spruce of medium to wide width. An above average red-brown varnish over a yellow ground makes this an eye catching and distinguished instrument that will fit in just great as a sectional instrument. Fitted with a top quality fingerboard, Mirecourt bridge, English endpin unit and Pirastro Original Flexacor strings, it's my guess that you'll find it extremely difficult today to find a more complete orchestral instrument that will offer this much sound quality and basic value for money. Indeed you could easily spend double the asking price of this instrument to obtain a tatty looking English instrument that doesn't sound half as good as this hundred-year-plus quality instrument. In fact we are so meticulous with all of our instruments that after they come back from our restorers we even go as far as shaking out all the dust, debris and wood shavings from the inside of the instrument. A nice loop in the purfilling on the back at the button is a pleasing touch while the addition of edge-protectors to the treble side ribs help keep the outline of this instrument looking good and prevent the expense of re-edging. Sound alone should easily sell this instrument. It has that deep, dark rich sound so important to the fundamentals of an orchestra.
