We stock a top quality leather
bow quiver that positions to the bass side of the tailpiece. It
is attached by means of a strong lace at the top and by a leather
strap with buckle at the bottom. Hand made in England from the finest
quality leather this particular design with its extra strip of leather
that runs along its spine (creates more rigidity) is one favoured
almost universally by both orchestral and jazz players alike. I've
been told it is all to do with "the openness of the mouth".
Hmm...
When required your bow can quickly
be inserted or withdrawn and once you fit one, you'll wonder how
you ever managed to survive before without it. All of a sudden pizzicato
passages become a breeze and the marking of bowings and dynamics
etc. in ones part becomes infinitely easier. Those few bars
rest become much more pleasurable because you can now lean fully
over the bass with both hands free and when it comes to the most
important job of all - running for the teas and coffee in the break
for the rest of the section - you'll be happy in the knowledge that
your bow is in a very safe place.
Beautifully made in top-quality
leather this piece of kit is an absolute must for every bass player.
Maximum length of quiver: 46.5cm
Length of bottom strap including buckle: 34.0cm
Weight: 468gms average.
Colours available: Black or Brown.
1) The very tip of the quiver
should "slot-in" just behind the bottom of the tailpiece
and the lower table. Squeeze and mould the leather slightly before
positioning so as to make it flexible enough to adapt to the contour
of the lower table.
2) Wrap the bottom strap at least twice around the lower tailpiece.
3) Get the quiver to the angle that you find most comfortable before
tying the upper laces.
4) Put one or two small lumps of foam rubber inside the quiver so
as to make a comfortable "bed" or "landing-site"
for the tip of your bow.
