At 12.60in (32.0cm) in total length
- The Contrabass Shopppe's "standard" length stainless
steel pin has been designed to facilitate a range of height adjustments
that will more than satisfy the requirements of the vast majority
of bass players world-wide. This applies whatever your stance or
style of playing.
We've used 10mm diameter stainless
steel with a 303 (very hard but still machineable) hardness specification
number to make these super-quality pins. You'll definitely appreciate
this degree of hardness when you test-out the tip on a hard surface
- for the point retentive qualities are nothing short of exceptional.
With regard to the tightening of the pin when it is extended - we've
milled a series of eight 7mm groves to a depth of 1mm along the
length of the pin - now that's what we call total security.
The boot consists of two different
layers. The outer layer, made from a non-slip rubber and an
inner core made from brass. Threads, both male and female cut
respectively into the stainless-steel tip and the brass boot
enable the easy removal and replacement of the boot whenever
required. In addition any rotational movements of your instrument
with the boot in place are effected in a silky-smooth motion
- the pin-tip rotating freely on the thread while the boot itself
remains firmly in situ.
The function of the boot is to:
- Protect the stainless-steel point from any unnecessary
wear.
- Protect the structural condition of your instrument
from the potentially damaging effects of 'jarring' - the vibratory
shock waves that are created whenever a steel tip comes into contact
with a hard surface.
- Prevent injury to one's colleagues, friends or
other persons from an exposed tip.
The Contrabass Shoppe has really done their homework
with the design of this standard stainless-steel pin. With one of
these pins fitted you'll never again - have to suffer the embarrassment
of a slipping spike or from that awful "sinking feeling"
we bass players know all too well about. This is a quality product
that no bass player should be without.
