Published by Paul Brun productions in 2000 - and now, having sold over 1300 copies worldwide - in its second edition - this amazing book has something of interest for every type of bass player or enthusiast whether student, professional or amateur.

There are nine main chapters that cover everything from the instruments Historical Development to A Survey of Tunings, The Bow, Strings and Accessories. There is one chapter of Biographical Notices and an Appendix devoted to The Octobass.

There are 317 pages of text, 27 plates, 28 figures and numerous extracts of music that are all backed up by a full bibliography and index. This welcome addition to the bass literature must have taken many thousands of hours to compile. Excellent stuff, excellent value.
